Auguste Renoir is a Hybrid Tea of the Romantica series, the French company Meilland's answer to the David Austin English roses. The Romanticas have the old-fashioned many-petalled look, and many are fragrant.

Diana and Larry value disease resistance, fragrance and colour highest when choosing roses. The Romanticas and Austin roses are prominent in their garden, consequently there are few traditional Hybrid Teas. Diana likes the detailed scents that are offered by the Romanticas. One, Comtesse de Provence, has a fragrance like mangoes.
