As you arrive at the end of the driveway, an arched gate with evergreen Fatshedera lizei and evergreen Clematis armandii climbing it frames the garden entrance Hostas are in concrete urns on either side.
On the left against the house, a pink rose with huge single flowers climbs toward the roof, and intertwines with another rose bearing trusses of thousands of tiny, violet flowers and a wisteria.

Complicata, a single pink Gallica rose of ancient origin. Blooms up to 7 inches across. Climbs readily if trained.

The other side of the archway, Complicata's huge, single flowers are complimented by Veilchenblau, with its profusion of violet-gray tiny blooms.
