The house is two blocks from the water in James Bay, on a 50 x 135' lot. It is a 1906 house, constructed out of unusual cast-concrete blocks. The front garden has a variety of lavenders and perennials, ornamental grasses, larch and yew, and roses: Sunsprite (yellow), Mister Lincoln (dark red), Graham Thomas (yellow), Compassion (pink) under the maple tree in the background and two climbers against the house, Mme. Alfred Cariere (white) & Guinee (dark red).

The next door neighbors were complaining about their buttercup-infested grass, when Ielean chipped in "Why don't you let me dig it up and put in a rose garden?" To her surprise, they agreed, and here is the garden a year and a half later. In the foreground, left to right, Just Joey, Margaret Merril, and Paul Sherville. Among many in the background are Eglantyne (pink), Sheer Elegance (pink) and Elina (light yellow, also known as Peaudouce)

Down the driveway are the "Ladies in Waiting" - roses in pots on probation or waiting for a spot in the ground to come available, including Fragrant Cloud (orange red). In the bed are New Dawn climbing rose (pink) and clematis, climbing hydrangea, buddleia, hosta, and a Mexican mock orange.
